1 2 quantum antiferromagnetic XY model on the triangular lattice in magnetic fields Abstract We study the S = 1 2 quantum antiferromagnetic XY model on finite triangular lattices with N sites in both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields. We calculate physical quantities in the ground state using a diagonalization for spins N ≤ 27, and those at finite temperatures using a quantum transfer Monte Carlo method for N ≤ 24. In the longitudinal magnetic field, the long-range chiral order parameter seems to have a finite, nonzero value at low temperatures suggesting the occurrence of a classical umbrella-type phase. In the transverse magnetic field, the 1/3-plateau of the magnetization curve appears even at low temperatures, in contrast with the classical model. The magnetic field dependences of the order parameters suggest that the chiral-ordered, the ferrimagnetic, and the spin flop phases appear successively as the magnetic field is increased. The transition temperatures are estimated from the peak position of the specific heat, and the phase diagrams are predicted in both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields.

Skyrmion lattice melting in the quantum Hall system

The melting and magnetic disordering of the Skyrmion lattice in the quantum Hall system at filling factor n'1 are studied. A Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless renormalization-group theory is employed to describe the coupled magnetic and translational degrees of freedom. The nontrivial magnetic properties of the Skyrmion system stem from the in-plane components of the noncollinear magnetization in...

Quantum theory of an antiferromagnet on a triangular lattice in a magnetic field

The reorientation process in a magnetic field in two-dimensional isotropic and XY quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnets is shown to occur through the intermediate phase with unbroken continuous symmetry and constant magnetization equal to one third of the saturation value. The same reorientation process is also found in the more complicated classical models.

Quantum Fluctuation-Induced Phase Transition in S = 1/2XY-like Heisenberg Antiferromagnets on the Triangular Lattice

The selection of the ground state among nearly degenerate states due to quantum fluctuations is studied for the S = 1/2 XY-like Heisenberg antiferromagnets on the triangular lattice in the magnetic field applied along the hard axis, which was first pointed out by Nikuni and Shiba. We find that the selected ground state sensitively depends on the degree of the anisotropy and the magnitude of the...

Magnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice

Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization,  internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.

Magnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice

In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4),  ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...
